The Wonder of Love

Love is life, by way of death.

We edge into life by accepting deaths,

Little deaths, larger deaths, until…

Unafraid, we do die and begin the life,

The life eternal: no more death.

Love is hard, tempered by suffering.

Paths we walk or shun,

Wanting growth but fearing its cost.

Glibly we avoid, by posturing,

Even religion as sham safety net.

~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Love is spirit, His Spirit,
Hot breath, warming the heart,
Breathing out from our core;
Our core, His delight,
Hidden but unquenchable flame.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~

Love is our True Self,

Divine union giving identity,

Our real nature, Real Presence,

Tabernacled in us,

His tent, intent, content.

~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Love is the refutation of death,
Yet honed in and through death.
Christ’s death, cannot be contained,
Eastering forth in glory;
Death undone by dying.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~

The wonder of love,

Our true birthright:

Eternal bliss in Him,

Sooner or later, even now!

Love will have it no other way.
